Making the Mission Possible

From the outset of 2022, it was clear that we were in for a repeat of the challenges of the 2020 and 2021 markets - low inventory, more buyers than sellers and escalating prices. Throw in rising interest rates in 2022 and I wondered how I would be able to help those who were on a mission to buy or sell a home in 2022. How would this look for my clients AND how would my colleagues in the Rocky River office fare as well?

At times, it felt like we were starring in the television series from the 60's and 70's - "Mission Impossible". But, just as every "Mission Impossible" episode ended with the good guys coming out on top, 2022 ended with the Rocky River Howard Hanna office successfully making the mission of "home" possible for so many buyers and sellers. And at Howard Hanna's annual company-wide awards event, we learned just how many people the Rocky River office helped buyers and sellers in 2022.

Once again, the awards event was held virtually and we gathered in the Rocky River office to celebrate our 2022 successes as a company and an office. Last year, the Rocky River office closed 1,509 transactions for a volume of $557 million! Our office listed 804 properties and was named the top listing office. We also received the award for the top office in northern Ohio!

This doesn't happen without great leadership and an office culture that promotes collaboration and new ways to navigate a challenging market. I was happy to land on the list of Top Individuals for Closed Volume and the list of Top Individuals for Closed Units. What does that mean? It means I was able to help 15 families buy and sell homes in 2022!

While "the numbers" are important, our managers added some new individual awards for 2022. Rather than focusing on WHAT we did, these fun awards spoke to HOW we did it. There was an award given to the agent who is the first to arrive every morning and the agent who does their best work in the office late at night. There was even an award for the agent with the best dressed desk! This year, I received the "Mission Impossible" award for selling the same condo FOUR TIMES before it finally closed!

Remember the beginning of every "Mission Impossible" episode when the narrator presented the mission with the phrase, "Your mission...if you choose to accept it"? We are just beginning the second quarter of 2023 and I can safely say we are experiencing more of the same challenges that the past few years have presented. My mission? Finding those opportunities to help people buy and sell homes in 2023...even if it seems impossible!
